Management of Anaphylaxis (BLSMA)

This qualification is suitable for individuals working in a wide variety of industries and employment situations, including voluntary or community activities and who are required to be trained in the use of an AED as per the HSE recommendation. It is also suitable for individuals who wish to learn an essential lifesaving skill for personal interest and development. Successful candidates will be able to recognise the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis and will be equipped with the vital skills needed to administer safe, prompt and effective treatment.

This is a classroom-based instructor lead course. The classroom learning is facilitated by the instructor using PowerPoint presentation, scenario-based learning and open discussions.

It is tutor assessed through a series of practical scenarios and also completion of a short course workbook.

This qualification is designed to be run over 4 hours and is valid for a period of 2 years. The learner needs to retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified.
