Description
What is it?
The aim of these sessions is to give kids between the ages of 8-12 years old, an insight into the sport of surf lifesaving. The sport originated in Australia in the early 20th century and has since gone global with over 70 clubs around the UK for your kids to join, take part in weekly training sessions, enter local, regional and national competitions and progress the sport into vocational qualifications as they get older. There are various disciplines within the sport such as swimming, running, board paddling and ski paddling.
During this 45 minute session our experienced coaches will be focusing on introducing the kids to the discipline on board paddling where they will learn how to mount, dismount the boards safely, correct positioning on the board, correct paddle technique and how to turn the boards through a series of games and races making this a fun packed activity for the kids whilst parents take in some of the festival highlights.
Who can book these sessions?
Festival ticket holders between the ages of 8-12 years old. All participants must be comfindent swimmers capable of swimming a minimum of 15m in open water.
What will be supplied and what do we need to bring?
Each child should bring swimming shorts/costumes, a towel and a rash vest/shorty wetsuit (if they have one) and sun cream. We would also advise warm clothing to put on after the session as we will potentially be operating in a water temperature of 16 degrees C (depending on weather conditions leading up to the festival)
We will have a limited supply of shorty wetsuits however cannot guarantee correct sizing and availability for all participants.
